Knights Celebrate 128 yr. of Unity,Charity, Fraternity & Patriotism
The Knights of Columbus is an organization founded by Father Michael J McGivney in the spring of 1882. His mission was to gather a small group of Catholic men who would band together to:
Help the widows and children of fellow Catholic men, Strengthen themselves in the Faith, and be of service to their Priests, Bishops and Church.
The organization was started in the basement of St. Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut. On March 29, 1882 the State of Connecticut officialy charted the Order. Father McGivney and those First Knights dreamed of the day when there would be a council in every parish in Connecticut. Little could they have known that their small group would grow into a global organization of more than 1.7 million members in nearly 12,000 local councils in 13 countries.
